Tascam introduces the FR-AV2, a powerful and compact audio recorder designed for video creators and filmmakers.

Combining cutting-edge 32-bit float recording technology with built-in timecode synchronization, it delivers superior audio quality while significantly streamlining post-production workflows. The unit enables direct timecode sync with video cameras without the need for an external timecode generator, while optional AK-BT2 Bluetooth adapter support allows for wireless audio monitoring.

Clipping-Free Recording

With advanced 32-bit float recording at sample rates up to 192 kHz, the FR-AV2 ensures clean, distortion-free audio—even when capturing extremely loud sound sources. Dual A/D converter technology provides maximum dynamic range and clarity, allowing audio levels to be boosted in post without tonal degradation.

Premium XLR/TRS Combo Inputs

The FR-AV2 features two XLR/TRS combo inputs, suitable for microphones or professional line-level sources. Ultra HDDA preamps with ultra-low noise performance (–127 dBu EIN) guarantee exceptional clarity with minimal noise. An additional 3.5 mm stereo input supports wireless microphone systems or lavalier microphones.

Precise Timecode Synchronization

With built-in timecode support, the FR-AV2 simplifies audio-to-video synchronization. Via the 3.5 mm timecode I/O, it can sync with DSLR cameras and other devices, and supports jam-sync with external timecode generators. Using the optional AK-BT2 Bluetooth adapter, wireless timecode synchronization with Atomos UltraSync Blue devices is also supported.
